Interior Design Project Info

The brief is to furnish and fit out a new 2338 sqft terrace house in Eco Horizon, Bandar Cassia. The word ‘MAISON’ defines as the word ‘home’ in French where this new house is the beginning of a new chapter of a newly wed couple. The house’s layout features 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.

The concept proposed is Modern Mid Century which the design aesthetic is modern in style, yet aligned with the modernism movement of the period, as our client is a huge mid-century furniture enthusiast. The interior design is characterized by clean, simple lines and honest use of materials, and it generally does not include decorative embellishments. The furniture pieces chosen of this style are undeniably beautiful in their simplicity, where mid-century modern furniture design is all about functionality.

On the ground floor upon the entrance, the hosts are greeted with an open concept of a spacious living and dining area before the dry pantry with a sleek island for the couple to enjoy their breakfast and a place to welcome visiting guests. A continuous white cabinet at the living area for storage is hung off the ground to create a floating seamless piece of joinery to enhance and contrast off the living room dark coloured furniture piece. Adjacent to the dry pantry is a specially design custom-made French double glass swing door keeping the oily cooking moisture out leading to the kitchen. A parallel row of carefully curated kitchen joineries are design to fit the free standing cookers, hiding away the washer and dryer creating a clean and functional kitchen to prepare daily meal.

A warming family area can be seen after a flight of the stairs where it acts as a lounging area in the morning with rays of sunlight from windows above whilst a movie spot with projecting floor lamps at night. The master bedroom which is the spotlight of the house is greeted with a full length wardrobe at the front wall next to their bed upon entry. Finally, the highlight of the room is the free standing bathtub, fitted on a customised platform can be seen at the far end of the room outside the bathroom for privacy yet capturing a scenic view from the window at an angle.
