Interior Design Project Info

The brief is to furnish and fit out a new approx. 820sqft condominium in Seri Wahyu Residences, Kuala Lumpur.

As Marie Jose Van Hee writes, a house benefits from careful treatment in the translation of scenes from the worlds of home and work, encompassing feelings, experiences and impressions from both sides; from a consideration of proportion, material, sight, light and shade; from a search for serenity, silence, peace and quiet, all of which combine to form a marriage of imperturbable reality, profound sadness and intense happiness.

This house’s design demonstrate just as mentioned. Prior to renovation, the existing lighting condition of the house was a dark and gloomy space, hence we introduced the use of cream colour palette to create brighter and lighter space in order to induce the calmness of the interior for one to alleviate. With the colour palette and the use of soft timber orchestrate the emotions of ease when one is home after a long day from work.

The existing kitchen is only a 55sqft poorly lit space. Thus, we have proposed the use of a 90 degrees L-bend seamless stainless steel sheet as the kitchen top and backsplash to bounce off the natural light from the adjoining window at the yard; giving the kitchen a new soul to inhabit.

Careful considerations of designer minimalist furniture, materials choice and placements creates the right proportion in each spaces to speaks its own function without any further artificial touches. The study that also functions as a dressing serves a double use of space amalgamate one’s life between work and home that creates a complete HEIM. Modern Scandinavian is born from the basic principles of modernism fused with traditional materials which creates visual aesthetics and sentiment of contemporary interior design of the house.
