Design Vision & Concept
This project was designed based on the brief of “Minimalist with a touch of Opulence”. The client wanted the space to be clean and simple but, not undermining their lifestyle and status. It was a real challenge for the team to balance between incorporating more luxurious elements versus keeping the design simple and clean. With collaborative experience from our designer, design consultant, furniture manufacturing partners, architect, and the building team, we were able to meet the client’s expectations and created a functional and aesthetically pleasing space not only for the family as a whole but even met individual needs of each family member.
Aesthetic Qualities
The overall aesthetics of the space was achieved by utilizing lines and curves for variation. To break the monotony of white, we added in wood elements with various hues. For workplace and some rooms, the woodwork chosen were inclined towards dark tones. Whereas for common spaces like the living room, we kept the design bright by using light toned woodwork. This will ensure the vibe of the room remain vibrant and joyful. On top of that, the team used champagne gold elements like lights and wall linings to subtly put forth opulence in the design. This managed to stand out amidst the simplicity and exude luxuriance. Finally, marble slabs were utilized sparingly on table tops here and there to again, give the opulent touch without overpowering the minimalist theme.
Functionality & Quality
This project was designed for a family so the whole functionality aspect was to meet familial needs and also individual needs. First, common spaces were designed to be airy, spacious, and welcoming. There were also a room designed for recreation and communication which is more toned down to give a coaxing and relaxing effect. Next, we designed a walk-in wardrobe where the storage compartments were all customized for the client including display cases and drawers for fine watches and jewellery. It was surely every individual’s dream to have such a wardrobe space be it males or females alike.
Innovation & Originality
Interestingly, the client had a unique request which is rarely seen. All bathrooms were made uniquely based on each family member’s preference. In our line of design, to ensure aesthetic alignment, most spaces would be largely similar but since the client has made such a request, the team took the time out to understand each family member’s preference and tried to accommodate while still adhering to the “minimalist with a touch of Opulence” concept. It was a pleasant surprise both to our team and the client that the individual designs did merge seamlessly in the end. The team’s effort was well placed.
