Design Concept: Modern Contemporary

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲

Tucked away among the high-rise buildings of Bukit Ceylon, Dough by Meg's aesthetic needed to draw attention to itself without appearing out of place. Additionally, the nature of the business required the creation of an elegant and comfortable atmosphere so that its customers could enjoy its wares to the fullest. To fulfil these goals, a modern contemporary concept was conceived and applied to the establishment.

Due to the presence of trees and flowers just outside, the decision was made to use clear glass for the storefront wall and door. This not only enables customers to enjoy the view of the flora from the comfort of the shop but also allows natural light to stream inside and accentuate the desired atmosphere. Furthermore, the clear glass makes it possible for passersby to see the shop's wares clearly, thereby increasing the possibility of them entering the premises to make a purchase.

In order to make the most of the store's 625 sqft of available space, furnishings that were practical and compact were selected. A primarily cream and grey palette was also chosen to add to the sense of spaciousness already established with the help of the glass storefront. Evoking the beauty and tranquillity of nature, the elevated section of the floor has a granite pattern and all the seats and tables are made of wood. Of particular note are the tall window seat stools which have tree slice seats that strengthen this impression.
