Interior Design Project Info

Pulai Perdana Residence is a commissioned residential project located in a 2-storey cluster landed residential district in the western part of Johor. The client ( a young couple with no kids) had always favored the living spaces of neat open plan and visual connection between pocket of spaces. With this in mind, the design approach was to create a design with neatness and spatial qualities of a landed property.

In favor of sparse and subtle, the client believes that the interior should be timeless and experienced at all times, and to be visually enjoyed from all corners of the house. Therefore, the approach is a careful 'holistic', as the interior design is kept to a minimum palette of a 'same few colours' but which are varied in application. Light oak vertical fins as the design element in the harmonious composition are being applied at the foyer features, sliding door panel at tv console and the outstanding new customized staircase railing as well.

Dropped ceiling at the middle of ground floor with coved lighting is planned to defined the key spaces, while connecting the foyer, living, dining and leading to the wet kitchen. The existing utility room is merged and become a larger wet kitchen, the previous back yard toilet is also turned to a powder room for guest use after the reconfiguration of space and circulation is also being fine tuned.

While much of the project is on the refinishing of surfaces, a fair bit of space planning is necessary too.
