Interior Design Project Info
This residential home is conceived as a refined sanctuary for an artist and avid art collector—an intimate gallery of daily living where function, craftsmanship, and curation coexist in harmony. The design embraces a mid-century modern sensibility with warm timber surfaces, thoughtfully framed openings, and clean architectural lines that create a timeless, gallery-like backdrop for art to take centre stage. The spatial planning is intentionally linear and uninterrupted, allowing the eye to travel effortlessly from one vignette to another, much like moving through an exhibition. Along the main living wall, a full-height timber panel conceals storage and integrates the TV in a seamless manner, allowing technology to disappear and preserving visual calm and purity.
A defining feature of the space is the massive handwoven continuous blue rug that anchors the entire living and dining area. Beyond its sculptural presence, it acts as an artistic “runway” that guides movement while injecting depth, texture, and emotion into the space—almost like a piece of art underfoot. The curated furniture composition mixes mid-century silhouettes with contemporary pieces, celebrating craftsmanship and tactile materials. Natural light filters gently through timber blinds, creating shifting shadows that bring the artworks and surfaces to life throughout the day, enhancing the poetic relationship between art and light.
The kitchen continues the language of rhythm and order through vertical timber fluting and streamlined joinery, offering both functionality and a strong architectural presence. In contrast, the studio room becomes a creative escape—an open canvas filled with colour, tools, and inspiration, where the owner can paint, experiment and display personal works in progress. Each bedroom is kept calm and elegant, with layered textures, muted tones, and iconic furniture pieces, allowing art to stand out without overwhelming the senses. Even transitional spaces are designed with intention, using sculptural furniture, greenery, and curated objects to transform circulation into moments of pause.
Ultimately, this home is more than just a residence—it is a living gallery that evolves with the collector. It balances restraint and expression, minimalism and personality, architecture and art. Every detail is considered to honour the artist’s lifestyle: to create, to collect, to display, and most importantly, to live beautifully surrounded by inspiration.
