Interior Design Project Info

Set in the foothills of Gunung Lambak, Talula Hill Farm Resort focuses on the design concept of returning to nature and simple holistic living within a self-maintained environment, striking a balance between hospitality and farming.

The design incorporates a thoughtful approach to material selection, prioritizing those with a minimal carbon footprint. This commitment to sustainability is evident in choices such as using fair-face brick and reclaimed wood panel cladding on the reception building's facade. For the interiors, local wood, rattan, and metal are combined with a simple emulsion paint finish, aligning with the eco-conscious beliefs of the project. This mindful selection of materials not only enhances the aesthetics but also promotes environmental responsibility and a reduced ecological impact.

In the lobby lounge, sustainability is embraced by transforming recycle wooden pallet into distinctive coffee tables. The pallets are carefully restored and skilfully painted. . This eco-friendly choice not only adds a touch of rustic elegance to the space but also reflects the project’s commitment to upcycling and reducing waste. Minimal use of air-conditioning system is made possible through the extensive usage of timber shutters as they allow the adjustment of ventilation and air circulation within the space. Futhermore, the louvers of the timber shutters creates interesting patterns of light and shadows indoors as it interact with natural light. The integration of timber shutters adds a touch of natural beauty to the building façade, creating a warm and inviting visual appeal.

With considerations on the relationship between the natural environment and built environment, the interior space design of the resort seeks to create spaces that promotes physical and mental well-being, comfort and relaxation through the application of natural materials, ample natural light within spaces plus comfortable furnishings.

In the cabins, large windows are integrated to present the scenic view of the natural surroundings to the guests and allowing the natural light of the outdoors to flood in the neutral white room, creating a bright and airy vibe to the space. The guest room design embraces the minimalist MUJI style which ensures an uncluttered spatial experience along with the selection of hand painted artwork reflecting natural flora. At the same time, the application of warm timber elements such as the herringbone flooring, timber screen, and rattan weaving furnishings, infuses the clean and uncluttered aesthetic with a sense of coziness and natural warmth. This approach combines modern simplicity with a welcoming and organic ambiance, creating an inviting and harmonious environment.
