Drawing from their Peranakan heritage, our client envisioned a restaurant that not only offers delectable authentic Nyonya cuisine but also serves as a tribute to the rich tapestry of traditional Peranakan elements and lifestyle.
Before entering, the classic green metal grills of the façade, combined with the diagonal concrete-style tiled flooring and classic furniture, establish a compelling preview of the interior ambiance. Stepping inside, one is instantly greeted by prominent Peranakan features: intricately patterned motif tiles, concrete ventilation blocks, and rich, deep wood tones. Raw finishes such as concrete skim coat, brick walls and wooden beams throughout the ceiling are also integrated into the interior. These elements collectively evoke a vivid sense of nostalgia, immersing guests in the essence of traditional Peranakan culture.
Notable lifestyle elements such as the Nyonya style fabrics, traditional Peranakan tableware, mahjong tiles and abacus are highlighted in creative ways to elevate the overall experience. The addition of a vibrant and sentimental mural portraying a grandmother and granddaughter preparing traditional Nyonya kueh in a classic Peranakan setting further enriches the visual narrative.
Concluding the interior design, various plants and framed vintage family photographs are integrated. This final touch envelops the space in a warm and inviting ambiance, encouraging guests to linger and savor the authentic Nyonya cuisine.
