Maguro Restaurant, an anticipated buffet-style Japanese dining establishment, will grace the 7th floor of a commercial complex nestled in Gala City, Kuching, Sarawak. Boasting beautiful city views, the Japanese-inspired interior design seamlessly blends traditional aesthetics with modern functionality. This design concept is a testament to the timeless beauty of Japanese culture, offering an immersive experience of calm and elegance.
Drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese laneways with the use of dark grey flooring, wooden framed screens, stone textures and bamboo plants, the lift lobby sets the stage for the overall ambiance. Upon entry, the combination of light and dark grey tiles and the eye-catching display of Japanese lanterns transports us to a grand, open room where Japanese aesthetics take center stage.
As one steps into the expansive double-volume space, guests are welcomed by a majestic tableau featuring the iconic Mt. Fuji as the breathtaking backdrop. The central focus captures the beauty of a Japanese maple tree in its autumn splendor, complemented by a stunning array of meticulously arranged white lantern lighting modules overhead that bathes the scene in a soft, ethereal glow, creating a truly enchanting ambiance.
The linear row of booth seating that is strategically placed beneath the magnificent portrayal of Mt. Fuji serves a dual purpose. It effectively addresses the transition from the double-volume area to a more intimate, lower-ceiling space. The incorporation of a roof feature, reminiscent of the charming storefronts found in Japanese laneways, not only imparts a distinct cultural touch but also provides a cozier dining experience for guests seeking a more intimate setting.
On the mezzanine floor, the restaurant extends its allure with a selection of private rooms. These spaces exude an authentic Japanese ambiance, achieved through the predominant use of concrete-textured walls and carefully crafted wooden frames. This design invites guests to immerse themselves in the very essence of Japanese-inspired living—a tribute to the art of simplicity and refined beauty.
