Tucked close to the heart of Kota Kinabalu, situated next to the South China Sea, #TeamofDS has made it a point to feature major natural design elements, capturing the soothing vibe of its surroundings and translating it into the interior spaces. The initial brief was to create a space that is suitable for short term rental, like Airbnb, however the result is equally suited to long term occupancy.

#TheTeamOfDS have coated the interior with a stylish neutral color palette which complements the design features as the minimalist furnishing approach has enabled the space to stay wide and open. Open kitchen space with a mirror finish backsplash, solid surface counters, and light wood cabinet, displaying an elegantly soothing walkway. The closets respond to the space needs, with minimalist elements of open shelving display which facilitate for the daily use. We designed a dining area with a front and back wooden feature panel and hidden bathroom for the sense of luxury. The neutral wood acts as one continuous gesture throughout the entirety of the home, creating the sense of tranquility.

The main highlight of this project lies in the design of its living room, which sports full-length, double volume sheer curtains, allowing a glimpse of the sea view, matched with a light marble TV wall and neutral furnishings. Natural lights stream into the interior surfaces reflecting luminosity in the space, inventing a cozy and relaxing ambience for the home owners. Besides, this too has significantly minimized the amount of artificial light and reduced electricity consumption.

With sufficient natural lights, it has cut down the consumption of artificial light which is impacting the natural environment. The veneer that we applied is a product with low-formaldehyde, SG Green Label certified product and Grade-1 Flame retardant.

This 1471 sqft apartment feels curated and orchestrated, a mediating space for the home owners. Elinor is definitely an ode to timeless beauty.
