Design Vision & Concept
Client rented a Terrace House backyard Garage and would like to transform into a takeaway coffee & baking studio. We created a mix between a specialty takeaway coffee & a baking studio. Unlike a conventional baking studio, the combination of the two makes it possible to create a more open environment.

A Sleek, modern & instagrammable and functionable facade is needed to attract people's first impression. A sleek design take-away coffee window allows easy accessibility. This shopfront-cum-baking studio makes the most of its open-concept layout with cleverly positioned and clean interiors.

A gorgeous, space-savvy workspace, 15Grams’ interiors boast two islands and ample storage spaces for practicality. A charming glass window frames the shopfront, lending plenty of natural light into the studio and giving passers-by a clear glimpse into the inner workings of the baking house.

Aesthetic Qualities & Functionality & Practicality
The shop’s front-of-house boasts a whimsy and fresh vibe, differentiating it from the usual baking studio facade.

Complemented by a few key design anchors, the sleek and modern theme shines through viz:
● A cohesive appearance through the usage of nude colours,
● Marble and wood finishes in cream, creating a calming and clean space,
● Practical arrangement of the components to make full use of the space’s dimensions.

Staffing-wise, the shopfront-cum-baking studio can easily have 2 to 3 people operating the front counter, serving takeaway food and beverages. The middle-to-back sections can accommodate 8 to 9 pax and double up as a workshop or small event space.

The machinery - chillers, fridges and oven peripherals line one side of the room, while storage cabinets line the other. A stainless-steel sink and countertop take up the back, with more storage overhead. Storage and machinery flank the room's sides, ensuring clear walkways around the two marble islands in the centre. Marble is cool to the touch, durable and suitable for the functionality of the space. Overall, the space promotes collaboration amongst team members and is an open space for creative ideas for culinary inventions as innovative as the space it’s crafted in.

Innovation & Originality
A comfortable space for pastry chefs to bring their sweet and savoury creations to life, 15Grams’ sleek interiors and chic shopfront bring a youthful breath of fresh air to the streets of Penang. With its alluring design and clean aesthetics, this modern baking studio is built to impress like any other.

Environmental Sustainability
Plenty of natural light streams through the glass windows, giving the space a homely glow and reducing electricity usage. Eco-friendly bulbs power track lights strategically positioned above the space, ensuring each section is well-lit.

In this project, we had use SPC flooring as its environment friendly. It can be recycled and its Zero formaldehyde. All plywood & lamination are to eco standard specific by green labelling scheme that cause minimal effect to the environment during production.
