Interior Design Project Info
Treez Draconis, meaning "树植.三龙," symbolizes a home that nurtures the growth and aspirations of three sons, with a central tree as its heart. This design breathes new life into a 15-year-old house that required significant renovation due to issues like water leakage and cracked tiles. The project includes an extension of the back kitchen and a three-foot extension to the front of the house, transforming the space into a bright, open, and elegant environment.
In the living room, the original flooring was replaced with large marble tiles in a clean white finish, creating a spacious and airy atmosphere. The former windows were replaced with expansive sliding doors, seamlessly connecting the interior with the outside. The combination of wood and deep grey marble patterns for the TV console and prayer altar adds a natural and serene feel to the space, while the black-and-white ceiling design elongates the room's perspective, enhancing the sense of space.
The tree at the center of the home serves as the symbolic core, representing new life and growth. This central element is complemented by thoughtful lighting, which infuses the space with warmth and vitality, turning this once dated home into a rejuvenated haven.
The staircase underwent a complete overhaul, with the old structure replaced by new wood flooring on the upper levels. The staircase railing was updated to a combination of glass and wood, making the previously narrow stairway feel more open and inviting.
In the dining area, the floor was raised to connect seamlessly with the central tree. Above, a glass sunroof allows natural light to pour in, turning the previously dark space into an airy, open environment. Walls were knocked down to further enhance airflow and create a sense of continuity throughout the home. A dragon-shaped pendant light above the dining table adds a striking focal point, echoing the home's theme. The bi-fold doors can be fully opened to merge the dining space with the living room and outdoor courtyard, maximizing the use of space and creating a fluid transition between indoor and outdoor areas. Additionally, fingerprint-resistant hidden doors in the dining area provide added privacy.
The dry kitchen serves as an elegant showcase for the homeowner's alcohol collection. A central island features a built-in wine cooler and a small cooktop for easy preparation of light meals. The white quartz countertops, paired with the marble-patterned flooring, create a clean and sophisticated look, offering a sleek and refined culinary space.
A reeded glass door separates the dry kitchen from the wet kitchen, offering privacy and keeping cooking smells contained. The wet kitchen reflects the homeowner’s preference for a bright, white aesthetic, enhanced by LED lighting. The combination of greenery and wood tones outside creates a harmonious atmosphere, making the space feel even more fresh and welcoming. The design also incorporates hidden doors for the helper's room, storage, and laundry area, ensuring privacy and maintaining a clean, streamlined appearance.
Overall, the Treez Draconis project not only revitalizes a dated home but also reimagines it as a space that balances modern functionality with the nurturing warmth of family life. The design pays tribute to the growth and future of the three sons, with the central tree serving as a constant reminder of life’s enduring spirit.
In the master bedroom on the upper floor, a warm color palette of wood tones and browns creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The design uses contrasts between these colors to enhance depth and comfort. The TV cabinet is intentionally kept at a lower height to maintain a sense of openness, making the space appear larger. Behind the TV cabinet, mirrored wardrobes add a touch of elegance while reflecting light, contributing to the overall spacious feel. The use of integrated lighting throughout the space elevates the ambiance, adding a warm and luxurious glow. Additionally, other wardrobes in the master bedroom feature glass doors, further enhancing the room's modern and refined look.
