Interior Design Project Info

The central theme of this project is modern living and reinventions of cultural design. The design brainstorming started with the altar design, which is the most anticipated part of the client.

In a modern home, having a home altar that blends seamlessly with the rest of the design aesthetic can be a bit of a challenge, but not this time. The foyer design are inspired by client’s belief in Chinese geomancy, an ancient Chinese traditional practice which claims to use energy forces to harmonize individuals with their surrounding environment. Precious metal with curvatures surface is symbolic of wind carried water (aka prosperity and 'Fengshui') and flows into the house. The fluid curtain-like structure has never neglected its functionality too. Every flat surfaces on the right is openable and is fully utilised as storage space. It is a beautiful sculpture that both aesthetically pleasing and practical.

Moving forward to the living room, the owner don't have to travel to a favourite holiday destination to experience the scents, ambience and lighting that makes him feel instantly posh and inspired. Using dark palette and contemporary shape is aimed to create the luxury ambience, and also, making a balance with the foyer area.
Client’s family are people with sophisticated taste, the living room lounge are filled with interesting stylistic features and architectural lines and shapes with co-existence of stone patterned paneling, marble and textured fabrics. The wide span window curtain speaks itself with its curvature shape, with lighting hitting on it, echoing the curvy lines at the foyer.

Instead of a full-bodied dining area, in the kitchen, we design a multipurpose island that fits to client's living habits. The giant island merges the cooking countertop, food preparation area, washing basin, refrigerator cabinet and a long dining space. It allows clients to maximise space that fits their different daily scene - it could be a breakfast bar that doubles as a working space; an open kitchen where family bonding would happens when preparing for dinner; a long kitchen bar that capable to serve their favourite guests. It encourage people interactions with different flexibility. Nevertheless, we built a skylight window above the island and modified the kitchen window to full height, to allows natural daylighting and provide connections to the surrounding landscape view. Making it a holistic kitchen that taking care of every aspect.
