Blanc №9 is a three storey intermediate unit of Maple Residence, a gated property located in Butterworth, Penang. With building area of 18ft by 38ft, the existing context did not provide much of an interesting canvas, not to mention that it is narrower than any usual 20ft house. When the client approaches with a brief of a home that the family can come together and interact, we knew we need to carve something from within.
The existing ground floor layout where living and dining share one area is transformed into a spacious living room with a cozy reading nook for the family to spend time together and nurture their hobby. Separating the kitchen and living room is an arch metal framed glass door customized for both aesthetic and privacy. The existing bedroom is demolished to create a dining area that can easily cater 6-8 pax next to the kitchen. This allows the client to have comfortable bonding time with family and friends. Moving on to the first floor are the multipurpose laundry room, a study room and family hall remained for future planning. For second floor, we utilized the family hall to build a walk-in wardrobe that connects to the master bedroom with an intricately designed metal framed texture glass sliding door separating them. Lastly for the children bedroom, we chose a whimsical color palette to create a rather playful design.
As you enter Blanc №9, a modern classic sophistication unfolds as a full height marble design altar thoughtfully crafted with classical lines and curves, followed by a marvelous architrave that direct one’s eyes to savour the grandeur of the interior with classical silhouette and a modern twist. The harmonious blend of modern furniture adorned with classical moulding, floral medallion and texture glass, creates a realm of timeless elegance.
