With interior design, a country themed home can vary depending on your geographical location but they all generally go by these rules. You can easily break down the style into these four categories:
A coat of paint can change the entire aesthetic of a home. So, when choosing paint for your space, think of country hues such as sage green, sunset yellow, sky blue, or any other hues pulled from nature. Depending on the feel you want your home to emit, you can opt for either vibrant or muted tones but the colour palette should always aim for ‘cosy’.
A country themed home features various natural elements,like wood, jute, and pottery. Try to incorporate these elements into different aspects of your home. For instance, a traditional country kitchen usually features beamed ceilings that give the entire space an aged, rustic feel.
Embrace fabrics because no country home is complete without a mix of patterns and prints. Introduce chic and fun prints like floral, checked, and striped patterns into sofa upholstery, tablecloths, and even curtains. It’s important to note that when adding patterns and prints, you should expect a busy space but you never want them to overwhelm the room so tread with care.
Country homes predominantly feature more traditional and rustic furniture pieces. Think oak, mahogany, or pine wood dressers, coffee tables, and dining tables. You can upgrade these traditional pieces with modern accents such as brass handles, plush dining chairs, and chic coffee table décor.
