Interior Design Project Info

For years, the experience of a wine bar in Kota Kinabalu has acquired a different meaning, rather than a place of learning. Named Wine O Clock, the wine bar is situated near Kota Kinabalu’s famous Clock Tower ties with a historic property. Wine O’Clock is a comfortable place, ready to welcome wine lovers and connoisseurs. When transforming it from an existing restaurant into a wine bar the owner requested to maintain a few existing features. Thus the spirit of the restaurant is reflected in the wine bar's fine lines and warm palette, the new space has an identity of its own, using the stem as a source of inspiration

The ground level is almost like a library but designed to hold bottles on display and a place where you can extend your knowledge about this noble drink. Slim slats of display racks, intended to represent wine glass stems, are a recurring motif in the interiors. The business is physically linked to an already successful business, thus the wine bar envisioned an establishment that would draw cues from the restaurant, offering a limited seats casual place for neighbors to gather in a class setting.

The second level is subdivided into a small comment area with 2 private rooms. The wall is furnished with a velvet curtain. The bar zone and counter are covered with walnut texture laminated ply and finished with solid surface large slabs. The end wall is inspired by extensive green enhancing the post-industrial surfaces while covering the large end wall and contrasts with the glass display cases for the bottles. While the wooden effect in the warm corridor heightens the completion of the floorings with luxurious vibes. In the private rooms is an existing gypsum wall which the owner requested to keep from the existing leftover. The existing gypsum wall was modified by adding glass wool to create sound insulation from room to room. To achieve better sound proof we designed a few cushion padding on the wall finishes with velvet grey fabric as the main feature wall in a room. The rest of the walls after being compounded and paint off have been accommodated with velvet curtains and classic design furniture to give this interior a timeless air, traditional yet contemporary.
