A remarkable transformation unfolded when our team took on the challenge of revitalizing a 35-year-old house in the heart of OUG. Initially, our clients had set their sights on acquiring their dream home in a distant location. However, the prospect of daily commuting and leaving behind their current community prompted a change of heart. They opted to breathe new life into their existing residence.
The house, aged and worn, suffered from persistent water leaks, electrical malfunctions, and fading paint. Our mission was clear: to update and streamline the space, crafting a fresh and inviting gathering place for their family, a true reflection of their contemporary style sensibilities.
Before one steps inside, an inviting entrance foyer with a comfortable seating bench welcomes guests and provides a convenient space for our clients to help their kids with their shoes. This foyer also acts as a subtle partition, creating a sense of privacy as you step into the house.
In our restoration project, we preserved the timeless elegance of the original marble flooring, seamlessly integrating it into the revitalized space. We took the bold step of reimagining the dining room and introducing a new dry kitchen, where our client could indulge in her baking sessions while keeping an eye on her kids at play in the adjacent living room. This inspired reconfiguration optimizes the living space, making it more functional and tailored to the family's needs. To infuse a sense of vintage Peranakan charm, we introduced a captivating juxtaposition of modern and traditional elements. Concrete countertops, adorned with intricate Peranakan-inspired patterns, served as the centerpiece, while contrasting patterned tiles graced the backsplash. Notably, this striking combination of concrete and patterned tiles was used in both the dry kitchen and wet kitchen, infusing consistency and a touch of heritage throughout. This transformation was guided by a reminiscence of tranquility, instilling a serene and inviting atmosphere into the heart of the space.

Throughout the house, we embraced a thoughtfully curated color palette. Light tones and saturated natural hues were meticulously chosen to grace the walls and decor, enveloping the entire space in an atmosphere of serenity and sophistication. This harmonious palette not only reflects contemporary design sensibilities but also enhances the tranquil ambiance we aimed to achieve.
