The father and daughter, both pilots, have soared through countless skies, while the mother is a former airline stewardess and the son is still a student. Each of these residents have experiences the marvel of air travel from different perspectives, which served as a backdrop and inspiration for design. The design aim to encapsulate these journeys and emotion through crafted form that imbue each space with tranquility and inspiration.
"Form Follows Function, Leading Emotion" was a guiding principle in crafting the intentional abstract forms. These forms were designed to evoke a sense of peace and tranquility, drawing inspiration from the natural shapes of clouds that grace our skies daily. Authenticity is maintained by using naturally occurring shapes that can evoke distinct feelings and moods in the human mind, such as rounded corners. Drawing from the psychology of form, it's known that rounded or abstract forms can convey a welcoming, positive, and unifying message. As a result, by incorporating curved corners became pivotal in transforming the space into a harmonious environment. These elements not only uplift the aesthetics but also enhance the spirituality and emotional well-being of the occupants.
One of the key feature is the abstractly formed plywood partition that is not really just a partition. It feature two concealed doors that grant access to storage room and an alternative entrance. On top of that, LED lights are integrated into the partition to serve as a wayfinding feature as it gently illuminates the hallways. Spatial functionality is the operative motive here.
The monochromatic color palette draws inspiration from the transitional period between dawn and sunrise. The ascent of the sun symbolizes the promise of a new day and signifies a shift from darkness to light. This transition, ranging from subtle to dramatic, is associated with awakening, hope, and endless possibilities.
