THE BRIEF:
The vision – to reflect the historical essence of Imperial China, into a modern, contemporary, luxury dining setting that immerses visitors in the grandeur and timeless allure of emperors in their imperial palaces.

THE DESIGN CONCEPT:
EMP KL @ The Westin transports visitors to a realm where the grandeur of Imperial China finds equilibrium with the modernity of the urban KL skyline. This restaurant masterfully strikes the delicate balance between opulence and understatement, ensuring a dining experience that is both luxurious and comfortable.

Gold Stainless Steel Reception: A Truly Grand Entrance
A gold stainless steel reception area makes a strong first impression and immediately sets the tone for a dining experience fit for royalty. It unequivocally welcomes visitors into a realm of unparalleled luxury and communicates that they are about to embark on an extraordinary culinary journey, where they shall be treated like kings and queens.

Opulent Ceilings & Intricate Chinese Panelling: The Grandeur Above & Beyond
Moving past the entrance, one is taken by the opulent gold tiles on the ceilings and quasi-traditional laser-cut Chinese panelling along the corridors. The gold tiles, painstakingly refabricated to reflect imperial grandeur, make a bold statement; while each laser-cut panel is a masterpiece of precision and artistry. Together, they infuse the space with luxurious intricacies that tell a unique story and evoke a grand, imperial and regal ambience.

Opaque Glass Panels Adorned with Brushstroke Paintings: Elegant Glass Canvases
Traditional brushstroke paintings on opaque glass partitions that soften the interior set against the backdrop of gold, metal, and hard lines of laser-cut panels and tiles. Together, these elements artistically encapsulate the essence and splendour of ancient dynasties within a contemporary setting, instantly weaving an enthralling narrative that exudes timeless sophistication.

Wine Cellar: A Marriage of Aesthetics and Functionality
The wine cellar, adorned with marble accents, is a testament to the project's unwavering commitment to marrying aesthetics with functionality. It stands as a visual masterpiece while also serving the functional purpose of maintaining optimal temperatures for the extensive and premium wine collection on display.


Special Tiles at the Open Kitchen Counter: A Striking Focal Point
These special tiles serve as a captivating focal point and are deliberately chosen to add character and personality. They instantly elevate the space from a kitchen counter to an artistic centrepiece within the larger canvas of EMP KL @ The Westin.

Meticulously selected furniture fabrics elevate each piece, blending comfort with style. ensuring comfort and style coexist to create a cohesive and inviting atmosphere. Thoughtfully chosen tablecloths enhance the dining experience, adding an extra layer of refinement that complements the overall design.

The carpet in the open dining area goes beyond underfoot comfort; it serves as a unifying element, tying together the entire design theme and establishing a luxurious dining environment that leaves an indelible impression on all who experience EMP KL @ The Westin.

THE CHALLENGES:
Earthy Tones with Imperial Gold: Striking the Perfect Balance
Harmonising an earthy colour palette with impactful touches of gold and imperial grandeur in a 7,275 sq ft space proved a formidable challenge. The aim was to strike the perfect balance between restraint and luxury, ensuring that EMP KL @ The Westin projected opulence without veering into ostentation. This delicate equilibrium became the cornerstone of the design, where the space had to be both inviting and comfortable while maintaining an air of regal grandeur.

The Artistry of Tiled Ceilings and Laser-Cut Panels: The Craftsmanship Challenge
The intricate detailing in the tiled ceiling and laser-cut panels, representing a contemporary interpretation of the imperial palace, demanded an exceptional level of skill and precision to execute flawlessly. Each element had to be meticulously crafted to capture the essence of imperial splendour while seamlessly blending with the overall design concept.
