Introducing Black Camp: A Unique Fusion of Industrial Chic and Natural Serenity
A one-of-a-kind warehouse restaurant bar and event space located in the vibrant area of Petaling Jaya. Black Camp transforms the ordinary dining experience into an extraordinary journey, blending industrial design with natural elements to create a truly immersive environment.
Originally, the warehouse was a restaurant from morning to evening. The vision is to turn it into a combination of 2 different genre. From morning to noon, Black Camp serves delectable food and coffee, transforming by evening into a lively venue offering alcohol, food, and live band performances. The concept of Black Camp was to bring nature indoors, allowing guests to dine under the moonlight and enjoy the essence of camping, all within a unique event space.
The project aimed for completion within a swift two-month timeline, maintaining the existing kitchen space untouched while ensuring flexible furniture arrangements to accommodate both regular business operations and special events.
Black Camp’s design embraces an industrial style with a touch of nature, featuring a color palette of black and grey. The use of cave rock-inspired cement walls and ceilings, gravel stones, LED light strips, real tropical plants, and moss creates a rugged yet inviting ambiance. Key pieces include a 4-foot staghorn fern from Sabah, a giant 6-foot wide wild bird nest fern, and a dramatic 10-foot wide acrylic moonlight pendant. The centerpiece is a tropical plant area, complemented by a custom cement-built electric fire pit that adds warmth and a touch of the outdoors.
Unique features abound in Black Camp. The bar, integrated into the cave rock wall and ceiling, blends seamlessly with the environment, while the rock wall staircase cleverly hides a storeroom. The electric fire pit, misting over gravel stones under a canvas with surrounding real plants, mimics the experience of outdoor camping. A glass-paneled VIP room with curtains offers an exclusive space for guests.
The project faced several challenges, including a tight timeframe, the need for a multipurpose layout, transporting the massive pendant moonlight indoors, and coordinating decisions among multiple stakeholders. These challenges were met with strategic planning and scheduling for efficient execution. The design incorporated multipurpose centerpieces and thoughtful lighting to ensure flexibility. To transport the moonlight pendant, obstacles were temporarily removed and then reinstalled with minimal cost. Feedback from multiple directors was streamlined professionally to develop solutions that met all expectations.
Our clients were highly impressed with the process and final outcome. "When we were in doubt, Jong consistently gave us the confidence to be the first to create a one-of-a-kind concept," they shared. The testimonial further highlights the project's success: "The end result exceeded our expectations."
Black Camp is not just a restaurant or bar; it is an innovative space where industrial design meets the tranquility of nature. It offers a unique experience for dining and events, creating an atmosphere that is both captivating and memorable. Discover a space where the extraordinary becomes reality.
