Debuting their latest concept yacht at the Monaco Yacht Show 2022, Designstudio MVH together with Feadship re-imagines ways to bring natural light to a yacht’s interior, blurring the boundaries of interior and exterior in bold new ways.
The eleventh Feadship Concept - Slice, as it is known, takes on a sculptural exterior, lengthens and wraps it around a totally fresh interior creating a series of exciting, unique destinations for guests. The starting point was “slicing” open the structure to bring light below in new ways and to new places. A once predictable flow of spaces is abandoned in favour of a fresh approach to a special onboard lifestyle. Designed to inspire the seamless connectivity between inside and outside, Slice is created with a singular glass element that runs along the entire length of the yacht, two halves being brought together in a state-of-the-art innovation, sensational in its interior volume yet beautifully sculptured in curvature and fluidity.
Sculptural Statements
The undulating silhouettes found within the interiors of Slice owes a debt to the sculptural fluidity found on the exterior forms. Through curves and sinuous motions, these soft textures accentuate the movement of water and air as the yacht slices through the ocean, evoking senses of sublime cruising. Thoughtful touches of sleek profile help soften the rigidity of the sharp lines and reflective surfaces. Aerodynamic profiles, chamfers on corners and slender curves characterizes the interior and exterior design of this yacht. There is a magical purity of flow that enhances the form and pays tribute to the brand’s signature look.
Seamless Dualities
Perhaps the most sensational part of the yacht is the triple level atrium that spans a height of 12.5 meters. This atrium holds a centralised importance in allowing sightlines to penetrate through the vertical levels. The singular slice of glass panel that cuts through the length of the yacht introduces natural light into the interiors, to encourage the idea of inside-outside living. Such sightlines imagine a new way of experiencing the sea in this duality of privacy and openness. In the process of design, it was also key to allow the ceiling details to ensure that the acoustic enhancements were achieved. On an equally impressive front, the precedent setting 110m2 multilevel pool deck design pays tribute to this idea of uninterrupted views of the vast ocean. A central figure in the architectural layout, the swimming pool stands at the central axis of the yacht, with cascading waters overflowing into the edge of the ocean. Vertically, you might catch a glimpse of the iridescent water surface from the Sky Lounge above, looking into the atrium of the swimming pool. There is an allure of the serenity of water, drawing your senses.
Ultimate Refinement
Another unique aspect of the interiors is the unrivaled detailing balanced with finest materials and finishes throughout. Marble, leather and timber capture the main mood and emotion of this refined elegance with intricacies of lush hand-tufted carpets and silk-like upholstered cushions imbued into the expansive space. Take for instance the circular bespoke sofa in the Main Lounge that features adjustable sliding backrest allow for various seating arrangements to be customized according to the guest’s needs. In every instance, there are thoughtfully curated details instilled in, from wall paneling, to the selection of light features,
and even bespoke door handles.
Slice celebrates a new way of experiencing the ocean, dissolving boundaries between exterior and interior while yet maintaining the elegance of seamless symmetry. Through a singular slice of glass that runs along the entire length of the yacht, two halves are brought together in a state-of-the-art innovation, sensational in its interior volume yet beautifully sculpted in it’s curvature and fluidity.
