Interior Design Project Info

OPPO is the biggest smartphone manufacturer in China, and has had its presence in Malaysia since 2014. For their expansion plan n 2021, OPPO Malaysia and its subsidiaries, RealME, IMOO, All Plus, and HEBE moved into 1Power house in Damansara Utama, occupying a total of 76,000 sqft office space on Level 27 and Level 28.

When designing and building this new Malaysia HQ, fun and energetic work environment were intended for their new office to best suit their young and dynamic office culture. We also took advantage of the building’s full height curtain perimeter walls, center core with skylight, and the outdoor gardens to create a bright and airy office environment, while integrating greenery into the office area to provide a better workspace for the staff.

Stepping out of the lift lobbies, visitors are instantly greeted by the open reception located in the center of the building, back by the core area, sunlight basking through the full-height glass, one feels like they are in a semi-indoor space with the timber linear planter box installed along the perimeter of the glass. Visitor lounges are placed North and South of the reception, facing the balcony with exuberant views of the bustling township.

The space planning was inspired by the building plan itself, which has clear segregation of zones with sharing garden balcony in the middle. Each of the subsidiaries is placed in each wing to maintain their individual brand identity still adopting open office space planning with many collaborations space, and meeting rooms placed in between departments to encourage interactions and facilitate meetings.

Functionality is not compensated in this trendy office, flexibility and multi-functional are one of the key design elements to befit this fast-moving and growing organisation. The 4 training rooms at Level 27 turn into a massive training / town hall area that occupies up to 215 pax by opening up the operable walls, this multi-functional area also has an open pantry and a gym.

The client also wanted a VIP room and its dedicated library to house their delegates. We introduced a light wood floor surface and counter that blends cohesively with the wallpaper. Local elements are portrayed through the selected rattan furniture placed around the lounge and pantry areas. The placement of different styles of furniture brings out a fun and vibrant outlook while keeping a sense of uniformity with the entire office.
