Interior Design Project Info
Minimalist Makover is the complete revamp of a 6-year-old HDB apartment in Singapore, is a testament to the power of design to transcend time and make a space stand out. The overarching theme of this project is minimalism, and white serves as the primary color, providing a canvas for purity and elegance.
The first challenge was maximizing the available space, a modest 900 square feet, to create an illusion of spaciousness. The secret weapon? Mirrors. Strategically placed, these reflective surfaces play with light and perspective, effectively doubling the perceived size of the flat. They also introduce an element of modernity, effortlessly blending form and function.
The minimalist design is a thread that runs through every aspect of this revamp. Clean lines, uncluttered spaces, and a deliberate reduction of unnecessary elements result in an aesthetic that is both timeless and calming. White, the dominant color, is used not only for its ability to open up spaces but also to create a sense of purity and serenity.
Clever storage solutions were paramount in this transformation. Every nook and cranny was analyzed, and custom-built storage units were seamlessly integrated into the design. This ensures that functionality is never compromised, and the flat remains an organized and clutter-free sanctuary.
The end result is a 900-square-foot flat that defies its modest size. It exudes modernity and aesthetic beauty while embodying the principles of minimalism. It stands as a testament to the transformative power of design, where the strategic use of color, mirrors, and clever storage can turn a 6-year-old space into a timeless masterpiece that stands out among its peers.
