Interior Design Project Info
The homeowner is a pair of young couple with two kids in search to design their new house as a place to heal and recharge after their busy day, a place where calm and peace are present.
Aligned with our client’s personality and design preferences, we chose modern Zen inspired space as our main theme to further promote the feelings of serenity being in the house.
With growing kids in the household, we considered a child-friendly concept in our design to fit their needs as remote working parents. We also want to ensure the design reflects the spirit of the family while maintaining the modern Zen concept with continuity between areas, but not redundancy.
The dry kitchen is the heart of the house where it connects everything along with being a place of activity and where people circulate.
Knowing the client’s passion for cooking and our theme that benefits from wood textures, long and durable kitchen worktop made of Kompacplus was used in design. We also used neutral color laminated cabinet to make the area look further spacious.
Moving to upper floor, we designed a tatami platform at family lanai area which includes the “bay window” along with storage attached to the existing window frame to create a place for activities and things for kids.
The platform is designed to be slightly elevated with low seating as this design is proven to be easier on the knees and back than floor cushions.
To maintain the design continuity from the family lanai area, we brought the platform concept into their master bedroom by using simplistic wood touch. We also added low slung bedside table to compliment the design.
Seven months passed from the renovation until our client moved in. With collective ideas and collaboration across involved parties, Doubble Interior managed to deliver a spectacular modern Zen design household that meets the expectation and lifestyle of the clients.
