Interior Design Project Info

MINIMALIST LOFT

The site of the house is resting on a serene corner of a newly developed township against the back drop of undulating hills.

A little garden on the west side of the house creates an open space that compliment with the beautiful scenery, an opportunity for the projection of the exterior space to mingle with the interior.

As one enter through the wide main entrance door, the surging shadows of the dancing red brick wall greets with utmost warmness. A fragmented black mirror shoe cabinet to the left of the red brick wall further amplifies the depth of the space and at the same time capturing the reflection of west garden; creating a sense of connection to the exterior.

Further to the right is the cozy living space, that focus on the solid wood tv feature wall that sit in between existing corner windows. The solid wood planks laid in herring bone pattern create a subtle yet bold linkage between the 2 corner windows, giving a continuous horizontal band of nature in display.

The dining and dry kitchen to the back of the house is connected to the living by a long and narrow corridor. The visual connection is enhanced by the use of linear recess ceiling feature painted in black, coupled with spotted light casted on the floor. The rhythm of the spotted light breaks the monotonous corridor, to give a sense of playfulness to the supplementary space.

A long narrow dining table contained perfectly within the dining, looking towards the borrow view of the west garden from the sliding window that open up to the exterior. On the other end of the dining table, a full height metal framing with galvanized netting infill act as a layering to the space, unfolding each space at a time.

To the back of the metal framing are the dry kitchen, finish in wood texture and solid white quartz stone finish. The use of natural texture creates a subtle conversation with the nature from the west garden.

As we ascend to the master bedroom above, the use of natural texture carries through from the lower floor. The master bedroom feature wall is a simple white wall fitted in between existing corner windows, with chrome plated koi fishes ascending in one direction to symbolize progression and growth.

The accent of the design of this home lies in its conversation with the nature.
