Interior Design Project Info

The idea of having an ocean-themed interior design is inspired by Good Family Steamboat Restaurant’s signature dish: The Fresh Fish Soup Broth (海潮汤).The focal point of the interior design concept is well-expressed through the interior atrium carved out near the entrance of the restaurant, where the elements related to the design theme are introduced to guests at a glance.The word in its signature dish “海潮” (meaning sea waves) reminds the designer of a Chinese folklore story in <Journey to the West> (西游记), where Sun Wukong (孙悟空) pulled out and took away the golden hoop rod (定海神针) from the Dragon Palace resided by Ao Guang, the Dragon King of the East Sea (东海龙王). Wrought with anger, Ao Guang shook the sea bed violently, bringing up “海潮” (colossal sea waves) in the sea with his rage.
Walking into the restaurant, you will see beautiful blends of curved lines and blue elements in the interior to exude a feeling of submerging into the depths of the undersea world. Greeting guests at the entrance is a huge figurine of the naughty Monkey King, Sun Wukong, in front of the magnificent floor-to-ceiling water wall to welcome the guests into the story setting of the East Sea happenings. Decorating the arch beam of the main dining area is the design mimicking the Shuilian Cave entrance where Sun Wukong lived.The fish ornaments descending from the ceilings serve to further anchor the ocean-themed design of the restaurant. At the wall of the partition separating groups of diners for some privacy without breaking the open feel of the space, the golden fish scale elements add to the reminiscent look of the undersea landscape with a touch of glamour to the overall feel.
On the upper floor, the ocean theme continues with wall designs that feature mermaid tails - all of which blend into an exciting and somewhat magical experience for the diners.
