This concept in French means the best person or thing of a particular kind. We want to choreograph the best space within a space. The total area of the space is 1,050 square feet. The existing unit with good natural air ventilation & sufficient daylighting, which our client prioritises. Hence, the space treatment enhances the natural air ventilation and daylight entering the unit by hacking down walls and enlarging the windows in the laundry area.

Besides, the client likes a brighter environment. We proposed natural timber with natural veins with white spray paint finishes for most of the interior space. The timber texture gives attention and attraction to the owner/visitor to glimpse and touch. The countertop with a natural stone texture represents a Biophilic Design pattern.

The open working which is beside the kitchen reflects back the client’s lived experience. The mother and son always work together and chit-chat in the evening to build up their relationship closer. We respect their place attachment without relocating the space. We create the best space within the existing space.

The master bedroom's existing orientation changed to the bedhead facing the sunrise orientation with a mountain forest view. Exposure to sunlight is thought to increase the brain’s release of a hormone called serotonin. Serotonin is associated with boosting mood and helping a person feel calm and focused. Besides, the ceiling height is lower which creates a sense of private and safe feeling (refuge) while looking out to spacious natural scenery view (prospect).
