We often find ourselves drawn to the softness of the sand, the depths of cloudy skies, the richness of clay, and the warmth of wood. It speaks of time and of transience, and possesses narratives of what has endured long before us - allowing us to relax, rest and recuperate from the world.
The owners yearned for a space to disconnect themselves from the hustle of everyday life, and to reconnect with a deep sense of peace and harmony. Borrowing organic lines and an earthy-hued palette from nature, it breaks the rigidity of typically segregated and impersonal spaces within a terrace house in Malaysia. In contrast, the spatial planning of this haven echoes the owner's culinary passion and hospitable lifestyle. The dining area is strategically positioned as a focal point, connecting the living, dining and outdoor areas continuously. As the openness invites natural lighting from the garden, it breathes life into the living space with a sense of tranquillity. Functionally, the uninterrupted flow allows the homeowner to interact with the guests while preparing a delicious feast in the dry pantry area.
The dining area, characterised by its simplicity, allows the island table to serve as the centrepiece with the mixture of wood and marble countertop. Complementing the backdrop, diffused lighting gently shines upon the softly-contoured wall niche and emits a sense of comfort into the dining area. The interplay of curved lines and fluted panels creates a cohesive look, harmonising perfectly with the warm tone and soothing atmosphere in its totality.
Instinctively, humans seek out spaces that make the body feel bounded and centred to inhabit. The curved ceiling seemingly hugs the low-level master bed, infusing ultimate comfort to ease the owners from a hectic routine, as if they were resting within clouds. In the master bathroom, dune-coloured wall tiles and soft lighting set the mood for a relaxing bathing experience, along with the addition of a custom-made shower head and fluted panels. Each and every layer builds upon one another, exuding a serene and cosy ambience to coincide with the homeowner's desire and needs.
