Interior Design Project Info
This is a two-story semi-detached house. The homeowners have a preference for a Japanese-style design, but the elderly and children in the family lean more towards a modern minimalist style. With these differing needs in mind, the designer crafted the spaces accordingly. A more pronounced Japanese aesthetic is embraced in the study, living room, and staircase area, while other zones feature a blend of modern and Japanese styles.
The living room design epitomizes the perfect marriage of modern simplicity with luxury, emphasizing the fusion of intricate details and functionality. The overall palette adopts soft neutral tones, predominantly in shades of grey, beige, and woodsy brown. This color combination infuses the space with a warm and harmonious ambiance. Particularly, the use of wood grain textures imparts natural and cozy elements to the contemporary setting. A large black television screen is cleverly embedded into the white wall, beneath which lies a wooden floating TV cabinet. This design not only offers storage but also ensures fluidity of space. The living room maintains an open and continuous design with other areas like the dining room and hallway, facilitating air circulation and a cohesive spatial feel. The flooring is finished with light wooden planks, harmonizing with the overarching color theme. Beneath the sofa, a dark-striped rug adds depth and warmth to this open space.
The dining room design exemplifies a perfect blend of minimalist modernity and upscale ambiance. Dominated by light wood tones and white, this color combination makes the space feel spacious, bright and imbued with natural warmth. The dining table features a white marble countertop, which exudes grandeur and durability. Suspended above the dining area, the linear chandelier is both simple and stylish. It not only provides ample lighting for the table but also serves as a visual centerpiece for the room. Complemented by the warm-toned backlighting hidden within the cabinets and walls, a cozy dining atmosphere is created. A full-wall open display shelf in the dining room backs onto a floating TV cabinet. This design is not only dual-purpose but also offers abundant display and storage space. Transparent glass cabinet doors provide a clear view of the stored items inside, merging aesthetics with functionality.
The staircase design is streamlined, offering a smoother and more modern aesthetic compared to traditional right-angle staircases. The stairway's curved design prevents bumps and scrapes, making it a comfortable spot for both adults and children to read or play games beneath. The combination of wood tones with white brings a sense of warmth and brightness to the interior space, enhancing its natural and rustic beauty. Beneath the staircase is a storage area, a thoughtful design that not only provides a place for everyday items such as books and toys but also adds valuable storage space to the home.
The design of the master bedroom leans towards a modern and elegant style. This design primarily employs neutral color tones such as beige, light brown, and gray, creating a calm and relaxed atmosphere for the space. The marble texture on the upper part of the bed's backdrop adds a touch of luxury, while the wooden surface below provides a warm and natural feel. On each side, two Japanese-style pendant lights are suspended, and the built-in bookshelf design at the head of the bed not only maximizes the use of space but also offers convenient storage and display features. The vanity table design is sleek and functional. A large mirror with two embedded light strips provides better illumination during makeup sessions.
Study room design that blends modern and Japanese-style elements.
Upon entering the study, one is immediately greeted by a tatami area. This section features an integrated wooden panel wall and wooden ceiling, with the ceiling having embedded lighting. These lights are subtly and evenly distributed, offering ample illumination with a soft, non-glaring glow. To the left stands a large traditional Japanese Shoji screen, characterized by its white translucent panels. This provides a measure of privacy while also allowing natural light to filter into the room. Adjacent to it is a spacious window that affords an external view. From this perspective, one can glimpse city buildings and verdant greenery, bringing vibrancy and life to the interior space. Beside the window lies a prominent tatami wooden table, accompanied by two cushioned wooden chairs, making it an ideal spot for relaxation, reading, or tea drinking.
The overall design exudes tranquility, simplicity, and functionality. With the use of wood and natural materials, complemented by a touch of green foliage decoration and Japanese elements, a harmonious and serene ambiance is crafted. This study room design flawlessly merges modern and traditional aesthetics, creating a space that's both peaceful and practical.
