INSPIRATION
Malaysia has a rich and diverse history shaped by various influences, including indigenous cultures, trade routes, and colonial powers. This diversity is a source of national pride and contributes to the unique character of the country. By blending historical elements with modern design principles and addressing the preferences and interests of young people, this design concept aims to create an immersive and inclusive space that fosters a strong connection between the past and the present.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES
The British Malaya, as the name implies, is an interior design concept derived from the historical era of British colonial in Malaysia during the 1900s, aims to provide a unique and immersive dining experience that pays homage to the historical relationship between British colonial influences and the vibrant cultural heritage of Malaysia. The fusion of elements creates a space that is both elegant and culturally rich, inviting patrons to savor the flavors of the past in a contemporary setting.
DINING SPACE
The British Malaya interior design concept immerses patrons in the rich tapestry of Malaysia's colonial past, combining elegance with cultural depth. Each dining space is thoughtfully designed to enhance this unique experience.
1) Semi-Private Dining Area
The semi-private dining seating features a cozy half-round lounge bench, crafted from walnut woodgrain and upholstered in a warm, dark orange PU material. This inviting seating arrangement encourages intimate gatherings while reflecting the era's sophistication. Behind the bench, dark green English design wall panels with decorative beading and moulding provide a classic backdrop, reminiscent of traditional British interiors.
Adding a touch of whimsy, a half-round top black metal grille mimics the look of a window, framing a breathtaking view of nature. The inner wall behind this grille is adorned with a natural green land and blue sky wallpaper, creating an illusion of outdoor scenery that enhances the dining experience. This design invites guests to feel as if they are dining al fresco, surrounded by the tranquility of a lush garden.
2) Private Dining Area
Designed for special occasions, the private dining area accommodates large groups of 15 to 30 people. Here, a comfortable long lounge bench, upholstered in the same warm, dark orange PU material, offers ample seating for shared celebrations. The wall behind the bench features a white English design panel with decorative beading, maintaining the elegant aesthetic throughout the space.
A striking feature wall showcases artistic wallpaper depicting an English garden, styled to resemble an oil painting. This adds a touch of artistry and enhances the overall ambiance, making it a perfect backdrop for memorable gatherings. The timber-design porcelain floor tiles contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, providing warmth and a sense of homeliness.
CONNECTING WITH HISTORY
Throughout the restaurant, an array of photo frames hangs on the walls and columns, showcasing historical places in Malaysia. These carefully curated images serve to connect guests with the rich history of the nation, inviting them to reflect on the past while savoring the flavors of the present. This thoughtful integration of historical elements into the design reinforces the concept of British Malaya, creating a dining experience that is both nostalgic and contemporary.
