Interior Design Project Info

A project that epitomizes the perfect blend of modern design and natural elegance. Located in the tranquil neighborhood of Bukit Jelutong, this home is designed as a holiday retreat and later retirement haven for a distinguished couple currently living overseas. This transformation is a testament to the harmonious balance between cozy comfort and practical functionality, tailored to meet the unique lifestyle of our clients.

Our clients, a 60-year-old married couple, are professionals thriving in different parts of the world. The husband works in the technology industry in France, while the wife is a banker in Singapore. Despite their demanding careers, they share a passion for motorcycles, particularly Harley-Davidsons, fitness, and cycling. This project is a reflection of these interests, providing a serene escape where they can unwind and indulge in their hobbies.

The vision was to create a cozy and practical retirement home that also serves as a welcoming holiday retreat. The design embraces a modern style with limestone architectural influences, resulting in a timeless and elegant aesthetic. The color palette of white and beige, combined with limestone looking wall finishes, solid wood furniture, and rattan accents, creates a warm and inviting atmosphere.

One of the standout features is the extensive use of textured wall finishes throughout the house, adding a natural and sophisticated touch. Key pieces of solid wood furniture and rattan elements further enhance the home's charm and comfort.

The house boasts several unique features designed to cater to the couple's interests and needs. A bicycle maintenance area with a double-volume ceiling offers a dedicated space for their cycling passion. Consistent wall finish tones are used to create a more expansive feel, and focal points are created with spotlights on furniture pieces and add depth to the design.

One of the primary challenges of this project was the small space in each area and the numerous small walkways resulting from the townhouse's three-floor staircase structure. This was addressed by implementing flat ceilings to cover beams, creating a more cohesive and spacious effect. Consistent wall finishes were used to visually expand the space, and strategic lighting was employed to draw attention to key furniture pieces, making the rooms feel larger and more inviting.

The clients have expressed their satisfaction with the project. "That's why I like working with you. You are upfront and just factual and honest," they shared, appreciating the straightforward and transparent approach taken throughout the design and renovation process.

This project is more than just a home; it is a sanctuary where modern elegance meets practical living. It is a space where our clients can retire in comfort and style, and enjoy their holidays surrounded by the beauty and tranquility of Bukit Jelutong. This project showcases the power of thoughtful design in creating a home that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
