Interior Design Project Info
The conversion of the 7000 sqft Cromwell Street warehouse in Melbourne into a modern office space is a showcase of colour in design inspired by the diverse landscapes of Australia. The designers took a bold approach by utilizing color as the main directive, with the use of Vanceva colored films to inject vibrancy into the space. The vivid hues, ranging from deep blue to fiery orange, mirror the contrasting natural beauty of Australia, from the calm coastlines to the arid desert interiors. These colors bring a sense of warmth and brightness, while also preserving the structure's openness.
One of the key features of the warehouse is its expansive skylights & ceiling trusses, which were retained from the original structure. These large windows flood the space with natural light, enhancing the colored panels and creating a dynamic play of lighting throughout the day.
The biophilic design is another crucial element, with potted plants hungs from the trusses throughout. This incorporation of natural elements provides a visual connection to nature and boosts the wellbeing of the people working inside. The preserved exposed brick walls nod to the building’s industrial heritage, creating a juxtaposition between old and new.
Overall, the Cromwell Street office strikes a perfect balance between openness, structure, and ventilation, with a design that fosters productivity while embracing the beauty of Australia’s natural and built environments. The use of color, light, and nature creates a unique and vibrant workspace that inspires creativity
and comfort.’
