Interior Design Project Info

Peacefully nestled in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, this monochromatic abode was inspired by the designer’s appreciation for the black and white palette.

Once considered a conservative color concoction, this palette presents a sleek, modern outlook in this home. The key design of this residence is anchored by white surfaces and black clean-cut lines. Smooth surfaces accented with bright colored furniture and art pieces project a modern yet understated vibe, setting the perfect canvas for the play of light. To create a warmer ambience and accentuate all the textures throughout the house, the designer employed a mixed selection of lightings, including LED light strips, decorative lamps, and narrow-angled eyeball.

Perfect for a bachelor, the home design retained an open flow between the living room, the dining and the kitchen with careful space planning in mind. The extra bedroom is converted into a glorious open-system wardrobe complete with railing and LED light strips boasting a luxury retail boutique’s ambience. With the original door of this room sealed, the designer constructed a new entrance that leads directly into the master bedroom to offer more privacy and a logical flow between the spaces.

One will find plenty surprises in this 1,850sqft realm.

- The breakfast top with two bar stools, creates a separation between the dry kitchen from the dining room.

- The fully functional dry kitchen emphasised even more on the black and white concept. An 'arch' in black colour glass is designed to make the entire kitchen looks more compact and neat.
- The entrance walk-way has a full height mirror panel that has the effect of enlarging the space, creates a more welcoming and spacious ambience to guests.

- Wall panelling that runs through the entire wall right from the entrance to balcony, enhances the black and white element even more. The furniture and finishing respect the idea of uniformity throughout the house.

The versatility offered by an open plan was maximised throughout. The living room, dining room and the kitchen share a single space.

One of the key decisions consisted of using white spray paint board with black lines, to cover the entire living and dining space to maintain the consistency.

The master bedroom with attached walk-in wardrobe, covered with white spray paint board with lines, possessed the same visual impact from living area.

The aesthetic and functional potential of this house is reflected in a number of details, such as raised carpeted platform that serves as bed frame, and white wall panelling serves as headboard and display cabinet.
