BLUE SPACES FRESHEN

CREATED IN A MÉLANGE OF ENGAGING SPACES, THE BLUES AND AUSTERITY IN LYRECO’S OFFICE IS TURNED AROUND INTO AN UPBEAT MOVEMENT OF WORK, REST AND PLAY.

More than just blues coming into the office on Monday mornings, Lyreco corporate office is packed with enthral anticipation of a communal culture of pleasant ideas, inspiration and teamwork. The blues are recognized as positive doses of Lyreco’s corporate colour with a contemporary makeover.

Breaking the rather dull, parallel white floor and ceiling, the employees would need to enter the space with a game of tick-tack-toe. Instead of Xs and Os, the ceiling board is given hues of white, blue and grey. The floor is carpeted similarly, however resulted in different patterns mixture to distinct space functions.

Deriving work, rest and play into the work space, the designer faced the challenge of positioning spatial circulations at best apart from fitting the number of employees in. Open-plan, the workstations are placed on one section towards the green wall. People of the management would have never thought of working from home – in the work space, that is.

All in blue, the entrance is creatively craved in an outline or silhouette of a house fixed with sliding doors as the front elevation. Inside, two scaleddown houses formed the meeting rooms with a view. Much like inserting toy blocks into it, the interior is constructed in wood and furnished in colourful tables, chairs and paint.

A break away from work stress, an extensive lounge is settled by the windows overlooking the picturesque view. Back dropped in an image of a global map, the vending machine is everready to serve for a cold canned drink anytime. Making it feel like home, the space is furnished with tables and chairs for casual discussions and cushioned with pillows. If all seats are taken, discussions can be brought over to the bar-like cabinet rested nearby.

All work and no play makes one a dull person. The communal space is spiced up with blocks of Jenga and a table football game, all out for strengthening the employees’ relationship. Taking discussion to another level, Lyreco’s office gets more intriguing as the designer conceived it like a town hall setting. The wooden platform is decked with multiple steps ideal for group presentations, talks or gatherings.

If need be, ideas can be illustrated on the white board integrated on the glass partition at the front. Alternatively, it can be carried on to a closed discussion room. With spaces redefined, Lyreco’s office is an office solution that cached a refresh working spirit around the clock.
