Design Vision & Concept
Colour is life. Colour is also magic, empowering spaces with a unique personality. This residence is the perfect portrayal of colour play, where spaces were brought to life with the power of colours. The key to ensuring different hues and shades work together is to have a discerning eye for matching and contrasting tones along with the design ingenuity to unite them in perfect harmony. For this particular home, a nature-inspired concept was requested. Thus, green takes the spotlight as the accent colour to complement the neutral palette comprising natural wood tones and smooth finishes. The result is stunning – as the colour theme artistically conveys a sense of living amidst nature.
Aesthetic Qualities
Upon stepping into the condo, a deep green wall at the entrance set off an inviting vibe. A nearby potted plant hints at more nature-inspired elements to be revealed, leading the eye to the attractive marble feature wall juxtaposed against a bright green wall. Lighting beneath the marble creates an illuminating and floating effect, infusing the space decked in grey and dark neutrals with a unique aesthetic quality. Green continues to be a primary accent colour in the kitchen as well – the cabinets were beautifully painted in forest green and complemented by marble surfaces that enhance the countertop and the walls. In the master bedroom, this refreshing colour is used only for the wall above the headboard, while wood panels complete the relaxing ambience the designers were aiming for.
Functionality & Practicality
It was essential to maintain a clean and clutter-free look. Hence, effective storage systems and built-in cabinets were incorporated into the home in a strategic manner. Apart from this, floor space is kept clutter-free – only practical decorative items and furnishing items were used to ensure a spacious, flexible space that promotes good flow from one space to another. Good lighting is also a vital element to optimise the multi-coloured theme. Backlighting, concealed lighting and track lighting that complement natural light streaming in from the windows all work together to keep the living areas bright, cosy and attractive.
Innovation & Originality
The designer was meticulous about creating a wholesome sensory experience from the exciting combination of colours. To put in a touch of sparkle, a painting with shining golden globes against a black canvas pulls the focus to the dining area adjacent to the living room. Hovering above the dining table is an eye-catching lamp in the form of bronze spheres to tie the decorative effect together.
Environmental Sustainability
Energy-saving built-in appliances are used in the kitchen, while energy-efficient glass for the windows helps reduce heat transmission, resulting in less reliance on air-conditioning to cool the bedrooms. The designers have also selected smart LED lighting as well as eco-friendly paint for the walls.
