Latina is a modern South American barbecue restaurant that celebrates the art of grilling.
Inspired by traditional Gaucho culture from the Argentine, South American grasslands, a variety of materials were integrated throughout the interior from soft flannel, brick walls and steel. Through the feature brick storefront, guests enter the arched doorway and are greeted by the vibrant red flannel hostess stand, embellished with metal copper and highlighted by a bold cement coloured backdrop. A transparent screen made of glass and black l-beam was installed to add a sense of privacy for guests in the dining area. Detailed herringbone wood tiles lead guests through the walkway area into the main dining area. At the center of the restaurant is a stunning incurved ceiling, accented with warm lighting fixtures, highlighting a custom bespoke withered tree. Rich in tones and texture, the barbecue area was designed with a steel grille surrounded by painted brick walls that the designers intentionally retained from the original structure. Extending across the ceiling are wood panels lined to meet the semi-open bar area. The designers intention was to create an immersive, sociable space that allows guests to become a part of the grilling experience.
Combining an industrial aesthetic with textured finishes, Latina pays homage to the authentic method of South American barbecue.
