Design Approach
Aiming to create a timeless space with a unique identity to the brand, Khazanah
Research Institute’s office is inspired by KRI’s nature of work in research on the
fabric of Malaysian society.
An overarching theme of Modern Malaysia subtly reveals itself as one discovers
cultural elements woven into the spaces such as rattan, songket & . Details
resembling books are also applied throughout the design.
The office has two separate zones. The first greets occupants upon entry which
consists of the lounge, meeting rooms, pantry and dining area. The layout of this
zone is designed to be flexible to allow combining these spaces when there is an
event or townhall. The meeting room doors are fully collapsible which visually
enlarges this whole area.
A row of multifunctional bookshelves with book display and writing board
functions divide the two zones. The second zone situated beyond the bookshelves
consists of workstations, hotdesks, print station, director rooms, phone and
discussion rooms. This zone has some visual privacy from the first one and are
lined against the windows for more daylight access.
Adequate breakout spaces are available throughout the office for collaboration or
for one to work privately such as standing discussion areas and quiet reading nooks.
Plants are introduced in all areas of the office to create a biophilic environment.
The overall work environment is professional and ergonomic but also designed to
have a warm ambience via a variety of light settings and soft furnishing
