BREAK THROUGH THE ORIGINAL CONCEPT OF PLANNING AND REDEFINE A NEW SPATIAL PATTERN
CITRINE RESIDENCE, which is based on the modernised designing style, is located in the suburbs of Johor Bahru. The initial design of the house is based on the typical design that is used commonly in which the living room and dining room are next to each other, and the kitchen is at the back of the house. After evaluating and discussing the synergies between space, the designers boldly move the dining room to the back area of the house, resulting in a more spacious living room. They also change the positions of the sofa and remove the TV in the living room, instead they install projector in order to create a cinematic experience for the owner. The designers utilise the advantage of the long-shape space of the original house to combine it with middle section of the kitchen, creating the feeling of integration to the environment. On the other hand, the use of floor-to-ceiling grey mirror allows the overall area to look more spacious. By prioritising the comfort element, the designers still remain using the initial modernised designing style for the bedroom. Using the transparent glass wardrobe, it makes the bedroom to look more spacious than before.
