Effective Tips that Will Make Moving Easier

We dread the idea of having to move from one space to another. Half the agony is having to organise, pack, and transport your goods. The other half is unboxing and rearranging your new home or office.

You can get exhausted just thinking about the whole process so we’ve gathered all the tips and tricks you’ll need to make moving a breeze.

Before embarking on a stressful endeavour, it’s best to start with a checklist on all the things that need to be done. A checklist will help make sure you have all your necessities packed and a label maker will ensure that you know exactly where you’ve kept your stuff.

The process of packing up your whole life into boxes can be strenuous so it’s best to take your time. Schedule time out of each day for different rooms. Attempting to tackle more than one room or section of your home can leave you overwhelmed. You can practise this even when you are unpacking too!

Now that you are going through your belongings, it’s the best time to sort through and determine what you want to save, donate, or chuck. This will have you pare down your possessions and leave you with a less cluttered space.

Most of us don’t think of doing this and end up scrambling through boxes to look for essentials. So be prepared and pack yourself an overnight box with toiletries, clothes, and daily essentials (Read: coffee).

• Colour code boxes by room. Use different coloured tape to coordinate where each box belongs.
• Be thrifty with boxes. Instead of buying new boxes, head to your nearest supermarket or warehouse and nab free boxes.
• Take pictures of your electronic device set-ups. The number of wires electronic devices can accumulate is alarming and it can be a maze trying to set it back up again so take pictures of the setup before packing to make unboxing a breeze.
